Promoting parents centre
National Parents Centre Week is a chance for parent’s centres nationwide to celebrate their contribution to their community.
And Putaruru Parents Centre is doing just that this week, says committee member and mother of 1-year-old twins Lynda Tomalin.
The centre, which covers the South Waikato district, offers a range of services to the community, including free antenatal classes, parent education courses and a weekly playgroup.
Baby capsules, with Snap ’ n Go wheels, breast pumps and vaporisers, among other items, are available for short-term hire to members free, some requiring a small bond.
Lynda said the centre was a great resource for expectant and new parents, as well as for those with older children.
‘‘The antenatal classes and parent education courses I did when my daughters were young were invaluable. Now the girls love going to playgroup each week for a change of scene and some different toys to play with,’’ she said.
During National Parents Centre Week, which is now on, the members of Putaruru Parents Centre will be promoting the centre and fundraising.
