Lots hap­pen­ing with win­ter sports rolling

Win­ter is cer­tainly upon us, win­ter sports are all go and isn’t it great play­ing rugby, league and football on wet grounds! Not so good for the uni­form wash­ers.

Sun­day was the South Waikato Dis­trict Hon­our­ing Vol­un­teers func­tion at the South Waikato Sport and Events Cen­tre. It was won­der­ful hear­ing about all the awe­some vol­un­teers out there help­ing out with sport in the dis­trict – keep up the good work, we couldn’t do it with­out you.

Waikato Pis­tons Visit – June 22:

On Satur­day the Waikato Pis­tons bas­ket­ball team is vis­it­ing the South Waikato Sport and Events Cen­tre to hold a com­mu­nity coach­ing ses­sion and shoot­ing ses­sion. This is a free event for all chil­dren, coaches and par­ents.

We would love to see you so come on along and take part, or just watch some of our won­der­ful sports peo­ple in ac­tion.

Noon-2.30pm – Stretch/re­cover and shoot­ing ses­sion.

12.30-2pm – Com­mu­nity Coach­ing Ses­sion

Vol­un­teers Week: Vol­un­teer Aware­ness Week is this week and Sport Waikato wishes to thank the many vol­un­teers that help lo­cal sport and recre­ation func­tion in the South Waikato dis­trict.

Sport Waikato is call­ing sport vol­un­teers in­volved in lo­cal sport our Sport Mak­ers. We’re very thank­ful for the time, ef­fort and pa­tience they give to sport and recre­ational op­por­tu­ni­ties in the greater Waikato re­gion.

We are launch­ing a Sport Maker recog­ni­tion cam­paign in July to high­light in­di­vid­u­als from the uni­form wash­ers to coaches. Th­ese com­mu­nity peo­ple need to be recog­nised and we’ve de­vel­oped a plan on how to do this through­out the year. Pu­taruru ju­nior bad­minton: Tues­days from 6.30pm, 8 to 14-year-olds, $40 a child or $2 a night. Rack­ets avail­able. Con­tact Vaine 883 3252 for fur­ther de­tails. Sports­ground web­site: Do you want more from your web­site? Sports­ground along with Sport Waikato are run­ning free web­site work­shops. Th­ese are ex­cel­lent work­shops high­light­ing the im­por­tance of a good web­site and the tools that can help you mar­ket and pro­mote your sports club. Work­shops are go­ing to held in Taupo on July 23 at 5.30pm, Cam­bridge on Au­gust 5 at 5.30pm and in Mata­mata on Au­gust 6 at 5.30pm.
