Tokoroa Netball Centre year 8 representative team are well under way in their representative fixtures for the 2013 season.

The year 8 rep team’s first tournament was at Rotorua.

Coach Dawn Ashworth was very pleased with the team’s performance. With only a few training sessions under their belt the young year 8 team played four games.

They were very proud to win their first game against Whakatane 7-6. The mid-court players worked well to connect the defence to the shooters. It was a great feeling for the team to win against a well-drilled Whakatane team.

A loss against the determined Putaruru team 3-7 certainly showed the players the importance of playing hard and using the skills learned during practice sessions.

The loss 4-15 against Rotorua was very challenging against the city team. This was the best game played by the Tokoroa team even though it was a loss.

The final game was against a top team, Cambridge. The Cambridge team had very accurate shooters and were able to gain a huge advantage quickly (halftime score 14-0).

Even though Tokoroa lost the game 4-16, they played extremely well to win the second half.
