Piston power impressive
The Waikato Pistons Basketball team visited the South Waikato on Saturday, holding a community session at the South Waikato Sport and Events Centre.
It was an awesome couple of hours with about 20 children attending as coaches and parents. The highlight was the Slam Dunk competition where the kids scored the Pistons out of 10. Sport Waikato Open Day: On Friday, July 5, Sport Waikato are holding an open day at their new premises, 43 Swanston Street, from 10am till 2pm. This will be a great way for people to see the premises and also meet the wonderful team, which includes staff from Active & Well and Energize as well as a district co- ordinator. Visitors will learn about green prescriptions, nutrition and exercise. It will also be a good opportunity to learn about sporting clubs in the area. Putaruru Junior Badminton: Tuesdays from 6.30 till 7.30pm (Terms 2 and 3). 8 to 14 year olds, $40 per child or $2 a night. Racquets available from the club to use. Sportsground, along with Sport Waikato, are running free website workshops throughout the Waikato region. These are excellent workshops highlighting the importance of a good website and the tools that can help you market and promote your sports club. Workshops are going to held in Taupo on Tuesday, July 23, at 5.30 pm, Cambridge on Monday, August 5, at 5.30 pm and in Matamata on Tuesday, August 6, at 5.30 pm.
