Teenage drivers targeted
A collective approach has been taken with the organisation of the Teen Driver Expo which is being held this week.
The expo began yesterday at the South Waikato Sports and Events Centre and runs until tomorrow targeting Tokoroa and Forest View High Schools, and Putaruru College, and exterior education facilities of the Teen Parenting Unit.
This year’s theme is aimed at driver inexperience and ‘‘The Fatal Five’’ which includes alcohol, speed, restraints, dangerous/high risk drivers and dangerous driving.
Workshop activities include a road safety quiz, computer driving hazard identification, static reversing hazard identification, fatal vision goggles, Students Against Driving Drunk, drug and alcohol testing and Fire and St Johns Paramedics.
Those attending will also be spoken to by guest speakers about their involvement in fatal motor vehicle crashes.
The project is a joint working partnership with Police South Waikato District Council.
