Focus is on service
The Tokoroa Council of Social Services has been serving the South Waikato for 28 years, focusing on social service development and provision. TCOSS seeks to make a strong contribution to the wellbeing of families in the district.
The community focused team has three lines of service available. 1) Community Support TCOSS provides information, advocacy and capacity building services to the South Waikato’s community service agencies
The purpose: we intend to strengthen community service agencies in the South Waikato so better services can be provided by them to their clients. Our support services: Community Development Information- sharing newsletters
Capacity-building seminars/ workshops and networking forums Lobbying and/or advocacy Our clients: Other community agencies which serve the people of the South Waikato
TCOSS also provides a range of services and advice for members of the community in Tokoroa through its community centre.
Community centre services include: Photocopying, word processing, resources (eg Help Book), service vouchers.
Staffing: Five staff are (3.75 FTE) involved in this community support work.
2) Family Support - the delivery of a range of contracted services to children, families and individuals.
Services: Social Workers in Schools in Tokoroa and Mangakino/Whakamaru
Parents as First Teachers ( PAFT) throughout the South Waikato District for 0-3 year olds
Homebuilders Family Support throughout the South Waikato and Mangakino/Whakamaru
Health information, support and advocacy throughout the South Waikato
Early Years Services Hub throughout the South Waikato and Mangakino/Whakamaru
Antenatal support and information in Tokoroa (from SWPIHC)
HIPPY ( Homebased Interaction Programme for Parents and Youngsters) for 3.5 – 5 year olds throughout the South Waikato.
The team also offer social services support.
