Chiefs mana hits Tokoroa

South Waikato News - - NEWS -

Back- to- back Investec Super Rugby champions, the Chiefs, will be paying a special visit to Tokoroa next week.

Chiefs players and management will be at the Tokoroa Memorial Sports Grounds on Wednesday, December 18 to play a few rounds of touch with some local teams.

Afterwards they will meet and greet the community and sign some autographs.

The visit was brought about by well-known local businessman David Foote, who spoke to Chiefs Coach, Dave Rennie, at the South Waikato Achievement Trust Awards.

‘‘As a team, the Chiefs haven’t been to Tokoroa for a good 17 years, so when I spoke to Dave about this, he was just as keen as I was to get the boys down here and show the flag,’’ said Mr Foote.

Senior Constable Darin Costar has organised for four high school touch teams and two other local to play alongside the Chiefs’ players.

‘‘The teams are all excited; it’s a great opportunity for them to meet with the players.’’

The Chiefs will be at the Tokoroa Memorial Sports Grounds from 2.45pm - 3.45pm, so make sure to go along for a chance to get up close and meet the team.
