Books raise funds for community
Thousands of books are up for sale in Putaruru this week as the Putaruru Rotary Club holds its annual book sale.
Member Howard Goold has been involved with the sale for the past four years and said it usually raises between $3,000 and $ 4,000 for the organisation.
And every year that money is invested right back into the community.
Previous recipients of the funds include young leaders and St John, he said.
Last year the club sold 3000 books that were all donated by locals.
‘‘ What we don’t
sell the Matamata Lions take so there’s no wastage.’’
He said a huge thanks goes out to the community.
‘‘Without them we wouldn’t be able to have a book sale.
‘‘We are just glad to be able to put that back in, that’s the key thing, community looking after community.’’
