Cheap homes

South Waikato News - - NEWS - By PETRICE TARRANT

Low house prices could attract people to Tokoroa if the small town played its cards right.

But investors are not biting the carrot because they can’t see it, Harveys Realty Waikato salesperson Ben Johnson said.

‘‘The main thing I’ve noticed is that not a lot of people outside of Tokoroa know about the [cheap] Tok market.’’

The cheapest house Harveys has up for grabs is going for $45,000 while Trade Me is advertising one on Dalmeny St for $30,000.

This is a far cry from the $ 346,000 median house price REINZ released for the Waikato/ BOP region’s December sales.

That is the third consecutive record high for the region.
