Country bands and musicians from all over the Waikato will flock to the Putaruru Plaza for this year’s South Waikato Country Music concert.

The annual fundraiser will help put money in the pockets of the Phoenix Variety Country Music Club for the 2015 Classic Gold Awards.

South Waikato committee member Bill Turner said the free concert has been a hit every year, with more than $1000 raised for the volunteer fire brigade in 2013.

The recipient of this year’s proceeds was chosen because of its ongoing commitment to the club, he said.

Bands have been invited to the walk-up concert from most country music clubs in the Waikato region. At the event, to be held on February 2, afternoon tea will be free.
