Crowd gets lift from balloon display

South Waikato News - - NEWS -

An estimated 2000 people showed up to South Waikato’s balloon display despite the gusty winds.

South Waikato District Council group manager community Amanda Hema said she was pleasantly surprised at the turnout.

‘‘ It was windy but everyone seemed to have a really good time and no-one seemed to be perturbed by the fact that only one balloon went up.’’

She said children and adults enjoyed the obstacle course, pony rides and other activities.

Forest View High School’s Polinetia Fa’atasi group performed for the excited crowd.

John V was there to capture the fun and action.

Having fun: Children had just as much fun with the balloons while they were grounded as they did when they were in the air.

Hot stuff: The crowd were able to see at least one balloon filled with hot air.
