Per­fect weather for New World open

The New World Open was held in per­fect au­tumn golf­ing weather, where Wiki Cortesi won the ladies’ ma­jor prize with 35, fol­lowed by Josie Loye and El­lie Dobbs with 33 points each.

First in the men’s sec­tion was Henry Skelton 44, fol­lowed by Rod Bore­ham and Ra Pene on 41, and Mii Tereu and Tony Fuia­mono with 40. Kur­tis Cortesi and Alan Blair had 39 points, and with 38 were Sy Nooroa, Suki Rea and Lionel Grylls. The 8 twos were scored by R Pene, T Fuia­mono, T Paku­toa, W and G Cortesi, B Hayes-Len­non, E Dobbs and A Blair.

There has been some move­ment at the top of the eclec­tic score­board on Satur­day with Jon Welch, 55, over­tak­ing Lionel Grylls with 54 points.

Tom Hayes, 53 and Barry Preece, 52 re­tain their places too.

A good field of 24 vets played on Wed­nes­day, when Alby Kut­tel blitzed ev­ery­one with 46 points.

Dave Ahuriri had 42, Robin Ire­land and Alberico, fol­lowed with 41, and Bruce Nairn had 40.

Two’s were scored by John Mapu, Alby Kut­tel, Jon Welch, Lionel Grylls and Alan Blair.

Ra Pene and Ron Sam­son had the long­est putts on the 9th and 18th.

This Satur­day, the club com­pe­ti­tion is a drawn part­ners event on nett.
