Grading looms

South Waikato News - - SPORT -

Senior netball teams will play their first sponsorship games on May 10.

The sponsorship competition results will decide the grading of all teams for the Bill Grays Memorial Championships later in the season. Twenty primary netball teams will continue with their grading games on 10 May.

Fun Ferns will start on May 9 at the Event Centre. Registration forms are on the Tokoroa Netball Centre website and a new Netball NZ junior programme will be introduced. The Tokoroa Netball Centre organisers have attended the introductory sessions provided by Netball NZ to enable the centre to move forward with an enhanced skills based programme. The new Netball NZ Year 1 and Year 2 programme will be the same for all youngsters throughout the country and will be renamed.

Organisation is underway for a Tokoroa Netball Centre Under 17 Representative netball team to attend the National Under 17 cham- pionships this year. Trials will be held soon by coach Taneta Riki.

Umpires classes continue on Monday nights. The only nights that they will not take place is if Magic are playing in Rotorua or Hamilton.

All player umpires are required to complete the registration form on the Tokoroa Netball Centre website to enable a database to be produced. Many umpires are keen to gain an understanding of more technical rules and will be attending classes for the Netball NZ Zone level of umpiring rules.
