COUNCIL IN BRIEF
Unfinished projects create concern
Lessons have been learnt as councillors reflect on the low completion rate of projects in the past financial year. Over 10 months, 71 per cent of the 2013-14 annual plan approved projects were not completed. Despite a carryover of funds, councillor Terry Magill said there should be more determination. ‘‘I think that a carryover situation is good but at the same token, I think we should be encouraging staff to meet as many targets as they can,’’ he said. Mayor Neil Sinclair and deputy mayor Jenny Shattock believed the number of planned projects may have been unrealistic. Councillor Anne Edmeades pointed out there were ‘‘logical’’ explanations for the incomplete projects.
