More dirt will go flying as Amisfield Motocross Park gets a $50,000 upgrade.

The South Waikato Motorcycle Club received the grant from the South Waikato District Council’s $5 million play fund.

The investment was handed out in hopes that more people would utilise the park.

Not only has motocross been recognised as a growing sport, the Tokoroa club has proved it is one of the best.

The club entered a team into the annual Battle of the Clubs event and came out first.

The six-rider team consisted of Dion Picard (MX1 class), Cohen Chase (MX2), Nigel Gainfort (veteran), Ben Broad ( junior 250), Wyatt Chase (junior 125) and Ollie Ayre (junior 85cc).

Each contestant rode twice and the two worst results were not counted towards the final tally.

And they were a whopping 29 points in front of second place winners the Taranaki Motorcycle Club.

The Taupo event acted as a fundraiser for the Kiwi team to the MXoN event in Latvia.

About $10,000 was raised.

Get set: An anticipating start had these riders rearing to go when the gates were let down.
