Truck pull tugs at heart strings

South Waikato News - - BUSINESS HOTLINE -

As 22 tired but determined students dragged Tokoroa’s fire truck across the finish line, there was not a dry eye in sight.

Forest View High School students leaped into each other’s arms after the 1.3 kilometre fire truck pull.

The Combined Adolescent Challenge Training Unit and Support[ CACTUS] began their day at 3:20am with a run.

Throughout the day the students completed challenges including a mental agility test and a riot challenge. Their final task was to pull the 14 tonne fire truck down Bridge Street.

Blue Light co- ordinator Kylie Tatham said the day was ‘‘awesome’’ and she did not expect the reaction at the end.

‘‘They were all emotional at the finish line because of what they had just achieved,’’ she said.

The next round will start at the beginning of next term.

Students can show interest or be nominated by the school.
