Toi­lets re­fur­bished de­spite up­grade plan

Leith Place loos will un­dergo a $6000 paint job cour­tesy of the ratepay­ers. South Waikato District Coun­cil has planned to re­paint the ceil­ing white at a cost of at least $6000. Group man­ager as­sets Ted An­der­sen said it would add to the ex­pe­ri­ence. ‘‘It should make them [toi­lets] a bit more pleas­ant.’’ An ex­tra $335 a month will be added to cover an ex­tra clean a day. The coun­cil re­ported the toi­lets had an up­surge in visi­tor num­bers to about 5,765 visi­tors a week. The paint job is not a part of the mil­lion dol­lar Leith Place up­grade planned.
