COUNCIL IN BRIEF
Toilets refurbished despite upgrade plan
Leith Place loos will undergo a $6000 paint job courtesy of the ratepayers. South Waikato District Council has planned to repaint the ceiling white at a cost of at least $6000. Group manager assets Ted Andersen said it would add to the experience. ‘‘It should make them [toilets] a bit more pleasant.’’ An extra $335 a month will be added to cover an extra clean a day. The council reported the toilets had an upsurge in visitor numbers to about 5,765 visitors a week. The paint job is not a part of the million dollar Leith Place upgrade planned.
