Eleventh ar­son at­tack

Another erup­tion of flames from an El­iz­a­beth Dr home takes the to­tal num­ber of sus­pected ar­son at­tacks on the prop­erty to 11.

Toko­roa chief fire of­fi­cer Dave Mor­ris said two crews were called out to the burn­ing house at about 1.30am on Satur­day morn­ing.

‘‘ When they [ the fire­fight­ers] ar­rived, the back end of the house was well in­volved too. Mostly we just ex­tin­guished it.’’

He said po­lice at­tended the sus­pi­cious fire and Fire Safety New Zealand is now in­ves­ti­gat­ing it as the eleventh ar­son at­tack in the past 14 months.

The South Waikato Dis­trict Coun­cil is­sued a dan­ger­ous build­ing no­tice on Au­gust 7 for the burnt out house plagu­ing the lives of Toko­roa’s fire fight­ers but Mor­ris said they are still wait­ing for the process to be fol­lowed through.
