Six putting up for Fon­terra board

At least six peo­ple have put their names for­ward for elec­tions to Fon­terra’s board of direc­tors later this year, in­clud­ing two from Waikato.

The board has three va­can­cies for this elec­tion. One was cre­ated by the re­tire­ment of Waikato di­rec­tor Jim van der Poel and the oth­ers by the ro­ta­tional elec­tions of direc­tors John Mon­aghan and David MacLeod. Both are seek­ing re-elec­tion.

They will be joined on the bal­lot sheet by Cam­bridge farmer Garry Reymer.

Another Waikato lo­cal, LIC and Bal­lance Agrinutri­ents di­rec­tor Gray Bald­win, has put his name for­ward, for the sec­ond time.

My Farm di­rec­tor, Manawatu-based Grant Rowan, also con­firmed his can­di­dacy and Can­ter­bury farmer Leonie Guiney is also be­lieved to have put her name for­ward.

Nom­i­na­tions for the 2014 Fon­terra di­rec­tor elec­tions closed late last week.

A co-oper­a­tive spokesman said the to­tal num­ber of nom­i­nees re­ceived was con­fi­den­tial un­til after Septem­ber 23.

Two nom­i­na­tions were also re­ceived for the rep­re­sen­ta­tive of the Pi­ako ward for the Fon­terra share­hold­ers coun­cil, mean­ing there will be an elec­tion be­tween Mal­colm Pig­gott and An­drew McGiven.
