Sports awards nom­i­na­tions open

Sport Waikato is again ac­knowl­edg­ing sport­ing ex­cel­lence in the re­gion. Dis­trict Sports Awards nom­i­na­tions are now open un­til Fri­day Oc­to­ber 10.

Cat­e­gory win­ners are con­sid­ered for the pres­ti­gious Brian Perry Waikato Re­gional Sports Awards held on Thurs­day Jan­uary 29, 2015.

Ma­ree Hawkins did us proud this year win­ning the ad­min­is­tra­tor of the year cat­e­gory.

Clubs, schools and sports or­gan­i­sa­tions need to take the time to fill in a nom­i­na­tion form so the achieve­ments of peo­ple in our dis­trict can be high­lighted.

Sport Waikato makes it as easy as pos­si­ble to nom­i­nate on­line.

From ref­eree-um­pire of the year to team of the year, our cat­e­gories re­flect the var­i­ous roles in sport.

The South Waikato Awards is Mon­day Novem­ber 10 at the South Waikato Sport and Events Cen­tre, Toko­roa.

Nom­i­na­tions can be made on­line at sport­waikato.org.nz, forms are also avail­able from the South Waikato Sport Waikato of­fice, 43 Swanston St. Gear up For Sum­mer: Bik­ing Events hap­pen­ing in Oc­to­ber. For more de­tails or to reg­is­ter go to sport­waikato.org.nz. Tues­day Septem­ber 30: Wheely Af­ter­noon Pu­taruru Pri­mary – on the 1km cy­cle track. Fun for kids of all ages (3+) and abil­i­ties. Bike ob­sta­cle course, time tri­als and more, 1pm till 3pm, Pu­taruru Pri­mary, Kennedy Drive Pu­taruru. Un­der Five En­er­gize staff run­ning ac­tiv­i­ties. Reg­is­tra­tions es­sen­tial. Grade 1+. Wed­nes­day Oc­to­ber 1: Search and Ride – Moun­tain­bike Scav­enger Hunt Cougar Park – Come and join our En­er­giz­ers. Year 3-13. Meet at the Toko­roa Cricket Club car park at 10am. Reg­is­tra­tions es­sen­tial. Grade 3+ Fri­day Oc­to­ber 3: Waikato River Trails Fam­ily Ride – A great end to the week. Meet Ara­puni Vil­lage 5.30pm ready to ride from Ara­puni to Lit­tle Waipa. Stay for bar­be­cue at Lit­tle Waipa then take the trans­port back to Ara­puni. Trans­port charge ap­plies. Great fam­ily ride Grade 2+. Reg­is­tra­tions es­sen­tial. Mon­day Oc­to­ber 6: Forest­land Wheel­ers Ju­nior Fun Ride Join the fun at Toko­roa Kart Club – time trails and other ac­tiv­i­ties. Meet at the Kart Club at 11am, all ages. Reg­is­tra­tions es­sen­tial. Grade 1+. Satur­day Oc­to­ber 11: Frocks on Bikes Toko­roa – Join the Forest­land Wheel­ers for an el­e­gant ride around Toko­roa. Any bike, any frock, meet­ing at Robert Har­ris where the fun will be­gin then end with drinks and nib­bles. We en­cour­age rid­ers to get dressed up for this ride. Meet 2pm at Robert Har­ris. Reg­is­tra­tions es­sen­tial. Grade 2+. All rid­ers in the draw to win one of two step-through retro bikes. Mon­day Oc­to­ber 13: Forest­land Wheel­ers Ju­nior Club Open­ing – 5.30pm till 6.30pm Toko­roa Kart Club.
