Quilts gifted to those in need

Toko­roa Coun­cil of So­cial Ser­vices and its clients now have 12 beau­ti­fully sewn quilts, thanks to the Forest­land Patch­work and Quil­ters group.

The quilts were com­pleted by mem­bers, who have been meet­ing for the past 15 years, and will go to­wards peo­ple in need.

The group also do­nated 12 more quilts to HOPE Or­gan­i­sa­tion in Tau­ranga, mem­ber Glo­ria Green said.

Quilts and knit­ting were also do­nated to the Neo Natal Depart­ment of the Ro­torua Hos­pi­tal for pre­ma­ture ba­bies, she said.

She said that it can take any­where up to one week for one per­son to make one quilt. This time around the group had com­mu­nity run days, where all the cut­ting and sewing was com­pleted be­fore the mem­bers took them home to quilt.
