Ki-o-rahi comp takes off

Schools from the across the dis­trict and beyond bat­tled it out in the Raukawa year 7/ 8 Ki- o- rahi Tour­na­ment, with Toko­roa In­ter­me­di­ate on top.

This was another join­ing of Toko­roa and Pu­taruru with Te Rau Aroha com­ing all the way from the Mata­mata dis­trict to take part.

The 16 teams com­peted on the day and come semi- fi­nals time, two schools from Pu­taruru and Toko­roa faced off.

Te Wharekura O Te Kaokaoroa O Patetere faced off the Toko­roa In­ter­me­di­ate 1 team.

And Pu­taruru In­ter­me­di­ate 3 com­peted against Toko­roa In­ter­me­di­ate 3.

Both semis were close with Pu­taruru In­ter­me­di­ate 3 win­ning theirs and Toko­roa In­ter­me­di­ate 1 the other.

The fi­nal was set to be an ex­cit­ing en­counter as both teams were fairly evenly matched.

In the end, Toko­roa In­ter­me­di­ate came out win­ning 12- 9 over Pu­taruru In­ter­me­di­ate.

Hard throw: Am­is­field stu­dent Melina Salale threw the ball hard as an at­tempt to score in the Ki-o-rahi tour­na­ment.
