More towns in the South Waikato will be able to enjoy their own neighbourhood party. Neighbourhood parties were only planned for Tokoroa, Putaruru and one was shared between Tirau and Arapuni. But South Waikato District councillors agreed Tokoroa, Putaruru, Tirau, Arapuni, Lichfield and Upper Atiamuri will each have at least one neighbourhood party per year. The decision may mean the number of parties may drop in Tokoroa and Putaruru. Community development manager Amanda Hema said each party costs about $1000.
