Woodturners carved it up at the annual woodturning collaboration hosted by the Putaruru Woodcrafters Club.

The club put on its fifth and final event before handing it over to the Hawke’s Bay club for next year.

The five- day event saw 30 skilled woodcrafters come together from all over the country.

Entrants were divided into random teams of three and given challenges.

Each team was also given Oamaru stone to include in one piece.

Chief organiser of the Putaruru event Geoff Addison created a clock using the stone.

‘‘We wanted to see how small we can turn it.’’

Addison said the event brings out the creativity in every turner.

‘‘You’re just pushing the boundaries all the time.’’

All the items were auctioned after the event.

KOOKY DESIGNS: Cambridge’s Colin Parkinson describes the ‘‘forks-cep’’ as whimsy.
