Chasing cheese

South Waikato News - - NEWS / HE PU¯RONGORONGO -

It is almost that time of year again when South Waikato residents chase cheese downhill. The Waikato Cheese Rolling Championships will be held in Tokoroa on March 7 and event ‘‘stickler’’ Marcus Maydon is urging all schools to start preparing for events such as the go-cart racing. He said he has already had interest from a few youth groups but encouraged those keen to get building. ‘‘If they build it there’s no reason they can’t use it two-three years down the track.’’ Entry into the grounds will be a gold coin donation and entry into the races will be $5 for adults and $2 for anyone under 16. In last week’s issue of the South Waikato News a story on Page 5 titled ‘Pool admission rises on cards’ said the Tirau Primary School’s pool use fee would increase by $375 per week. This was incorrect. The user charges for the seasonal pools in Putaruru and Tı¯rau, for all schools, will be set at $25 per hour of use.
