Thief takes guns in morning raid

South Waikato News - - NEWS / OPINION - By PETRICE TARRANT

Police are on the hunt for an ‘‘oxygen thief’’ who stole $1000 worth of guns from Sportsworld Tokoroa.

Owner Jeff Gash said his security cameras show a man stealing from the store at about 4am last Wednesday.

The footage shows a resemblence between the culprit and the man who broke into the Mannering St retail store just before Christmas.

Insurance only covers so much, he said. ‘‘[The break ins] have probably cost me $ 3000 in the past two months.

‘‘It’s frustrating, but the police are doing everything they can.’’

This is the fourth time his store has been broken into in the 11 years he has owned it, he said.

‘‘It just reinforces the need for security cameras in town.’’

As a business owner, he said he was more than happy to fork out for the levy the committee had proposed.

BURGLED AGAIN: Sportsworld Tokoroa.
