Squash tour­na­ment at­tracts medal­list

Squash play­ers in the South Waikato will get a chance to rub shoul­ders with Com­mon­wealth Games medal­list Joelle King from to­mor­row on­wards at the Toko­roa New World Squash Open this week­end.

The tour­na­ment, be­ing held at the Toko­roa Squash Club, is set to at­tract 80- plus play­ers from around the re­gion in­clud­ing New Zealand No 1 woman and Com­mon­wealth Games medal­list Joelle King.

King is also aim­ing to have a run around with some of the club’s ju­niors to give them a few tips.

A num­ber of other higher graded play­ers will give Joelle a run for her money, in­clud­ing A1 grade player Zac Miller, who is also New Zealand’s top 20 male.

The public are wel­come at the Toko­roa Squash Club to watch games which will start to­mor­row for lo­cal play­ers, with most tak­ing place on Fri­day night and all day Satur­day.
