Tirau set for Library Link
A library link service will kick off in Tirau next month following the decision to close the Tirau Library.
Operating out of The Dog information centre in Tirau from July 1, the wi- fi and public internet service is available seven days a week which will increase the Tirau community’s digital access, council community group manager Amanda Hema said.
‘‘ The new Library Link outreach service follows its decision to close the physical Tirau Library due to low user numbers,’’ Hema said.
‘‘The service will cater for a number of existing services including book pick- up and drop- off, item reservation, reader’s advisory service, information services, online catalogue, free wi-fi and public internet.’’
The Library Link service will be manned by a council librarian intermittently during a three month transition period as advertised.
Council staff will review the service in six months to seek further improvements to better cater to the needs of library users in Tirau.
