Ti­rau set for Li­brary Link

A li­brary link ser­vice will kick off in Ti­rau next month fol­low­ing the de­ci­sion to close the Ti­rau Li­brary.

Op­er­at­ing out of The Dog in­for­ma­tion cen­tre in Ti­rau from July 1, the wi- fi and public in­ter­net ser­vice is avail­able seven days a week which will in­crease the Ti­rau com­mu­nity’s dig­i­tal ac­cess, coun­cil com­mu­nity group man­ager Amanda Hema said.

‘‘ The new Li­brary Link out­reach ser­vice fol­lows its de­ci­sion to close the phys­i­cal Ti­rau Li­brary due to low user num­bers,’’ Hema said.

‘‘The ser­vice will cater for a num­ber of ex­ist­ing ser­vices in­clud­ing book pick- up and drop- off, item reser­va­tion, reader’s ad­vi­sory ser­vice, in­for­ma­tion ser­vices, online cat­a­logue, free wi-fi and public in­ter­net.’’

The Li­brary Link ser­vice will be manned by a coun­cil li­brar­ian in­ter­mit­tently dur­ing a three month tran­si­tion pe­riod as ad­ver­tised.

Coun­cil staff will re­view the ser­vice in six months to seek fur­ther im­prove­ments to bet­ter cater to the needs of li­brary users in Ti­rau.
