Au­thor of­fers stu­dents ad­vice

For­est View High School stu­dents got up close with award win­ning au­thor Kate De Goldi in an op­por­tu­nity to en­hance their writ­ing skills.

The New Zealand au­thor has writ­ten chil­dren’s books, short sto­ries, young adult fic­tion and jour­nal­ism pieces.

She’s won sev­eral awards, in­clud­ing the New Zealand Post Book of the Year in 2009 for her novel The 10pm Ques­tion.

The visit to the Toko­roa school was or­gan­ised by li­brar­ian Lyn­d­sey Cof­fin in con­junc­tion with the NZ Book Coun­cil.

A group of stu­dents learned writ­ing tech­niques from the au­thor and gained ad­vice on how to be a bet­ter writer.
