Netballers play on in storm

South Waikato News - - SPORT -

Stormy winter weather for netball was the name of the game at the Memorial Sportsground last Saturday.

Heavy rain and strong winds were experienced by spectators, players, coaches and umpires.

Everyone weathered the storm and went about their weekly passionate commitment to netball in Tokoroa.

Many teams have entered to make their mark on the winners list and gain a good position in the sponsored competition which will lead into the Bill Gray Memorial Championships later in the season.

THSOB, United Force, Eagles, Spartans Masters and Forestland Falcons Blue teams gained two valuable wins.

Players and umpires showed their determination to cope with the weather conditions.

Last weekend the Tokoroa Netball Centre Under 15 representative team played three games at the Rotorua Representative Tournament.

Although all games were lost, coach Maria Te Kanawa and manager Te Paea Riki-Pahewa said they were very pleased with the progress the team was making.

Combinations and confidence among the players had developed throughout each game.

The team will play in Hamilton Netball Centre next week and the Tokoroa year 7 and year 8 representative teams will be at Rotorua.
