Club awash with medal win­ners

Young Toko­roa Taek­wondo com­peti­tors proved their skills on the na­tional stage walk­ing away with medals around their necks.

The Toko­roa team com­peted at the New Zealand United Taek­wondo As­so­ci­a­tion in Auck­land and came home with one sil­ver and four golds.

Sil­ver medal­list, Kris­tian Wood had a close fight with no points scored in the first two rounds and the fi­nal re­sult be­ing 3-2.

But Cruyz Ford, 12, had a straight fi­nal with a con­vinc­ing 4-1 win while Mon­ica Ben­nion, 13, com­peted at her first na­tional tour­na­ment and won 14-10.

Jonathan Te Awa and Holly Petera each claimed a gold medal by win­ning both of their fights.

On July 25, it will be the Toko­roa Taek­wondo Club’s turn to host a tour­na­ment at the South Waikato Sports and Events Cen­tre.

Com­peti­tors aged 6 to 40 years from around the North Is­land will be par­tic­i­pat­ing at this event.
