Club awash with medal winners
Young Tokoroa Taekwondo competitors proved their skills on the national stage walking away with medals around their necks.
The Tokoroa team competed at the New Zealand United Taekwondo Association in Auckland and came home with one silver and four golds.
Silver medallist, Kristian Wood had a close fight with no points scored in the first two rounds and the final result being 3-2.
But Cruyz Ford, 12, had a straight final with a convincing 4-1 win while Monica Bennion, 13, competed at her first national tournament and won 14-10.
Jonathan Te Awa and Holly Petera each claimed a gold medal by winning both of their fights.
On July 25, it will be the Tokoroa Taekwondo Club’s turn to host a tournament at the South Waikato Sports and Events Centre.
Competitors aged 6 to 40 years from around the North Island will be participating at this event.
