I’ve al­ways been the type of ac­tor who reads things over and over again in or­der to ‘‘get in­side’’ the char­ac­ter’s mind. De­pres­sion is a re­ally hard one to pin­point on peo­ple, as they of­ten show two dif­fer­ent faces; one in pri­vate and the pub­lic ‘‘ev­ery­thing’s al­right’’ face. Dave is very much like that. I found that when sur­rounded by his work­mates he is very very dif­fer­ent from when he’s alone., and the au­di­ence gets to see that. ab­so­lutely loved play­ing Billy Flynn in Michael Hurst’s ver­sion of Chicago for Auck­land Theatre Com­pany.
