Coffee boost for farmers
Coffee lovers know the difference a good cuppa’ can make so in light of recent hard times for dairy farmers in the South Waikato Fonterra came up with a great idea to boost morale.
The dairy giant has been travelling throughout the area offering free coffee cart coffees to local farmers.
Area manager Vicki Wallace said after two challenging seasons and the added stress of an extremely wet winter, Fonterra knew it had to do something to bring everyone together.
‘‘We came up with an initiative to provide an excuse to get our farmers off the farm for an energy boost offering ‘‘Coffee to the Farmers’’ to show we care and have a general good old catch up with their neighbours, ‘‘she said.
With its third stint Wallace decided to visit six ’’handy’’ locations around the Mangakino, Marotiri, and Tirohonga areas.
‘‘Farmers are extremely busy at this time of the year so we located each stop within a few minutes’ drive for each farmer so they could pop down and have a chat and coffee on us, ‘‘she said.
‘‘We have a very strong co-op’ spirit and being able to provide our Fonterra farmers with a nice hot beverage and a chat is putting our values into action.’’
‘‘We just love getting out there and showing we care for our cooperative.’’
She thanked those who helped.

Farmers and Fonterra representatives gather on a farm in Whakamaru to enjoy a free coffee to help boost morales amid trying times for the industry.
