What began as an account of his life for his children has turned into an award winning book for former South Waikato based author Dennis Mcleod.

‘‘I was inspired to write the book by wanting to leave an account of my life for my children and their families for when that day came I was no longer around. But as I wrote I could see it was becoming more than a record but a story to inspire others,’’ he said.

‘‘It is a book to encourage people who have had bad starts to life and or have fallen into bad times that there is hope just around the corner.’’

‘‘There are, as one person put it, stories of wisdom and knowledge learnt over many years through many trials and situations I have found myself in,’’ he said.

He said it was after he retired in 1966 that his real interest in

That’s included writing many training aids during his 35 years at Wintec, a book called Engineering for Mechanics used to assist new tutors, and a small Booklet on the Feasts of the Lord from the Bible which has been translated into at least six languages and used in prisons to help turn lives around.

He said he couldn’t be happier with the response to his new book.
