Big fun await­ing Big Week­end

You can kiss all your other week­end plans good­bye at the start of De­cem­ber be­cause the Toko­roa Big Week­end is an event not to be missed.

The event, which in­cor­po­rates Carols in the Park, the Toko­roa Christ­mas Pa­rade, and the 79th An­nual Toko­roa A&P Show, will once again take place from Fri­day, De­cem­ber 2 to Satur­day, De­cem­ber 3 at the Me­mo­rial Sports Ground in Mos­sop Rd.

Sec­re­tary trea­surer Sh­eryl Ear­les said there will be some­thing for ev­ery­one.

That will be­gin with Carols in the Park run by the Min­is­ters As­so­ci­a­tion on Fri­day night from 6.30pm un­til 9pm, the Christ­mas pa­rade run by the Toko­roa City Lions on Satur­day from 10am in Kinder­garten Pl, and then the Toko­roa A&P show fea­tur­ing live an­i­mals, stalls, and var­i­ous com­pe­ti­tions such as strong­man, baby, and miss princess con­tests.

‘‘The Toko­roa Big Week­end has been go­ing since 2008 af­ter the three sep­a­rate groups came to­gether and we have peo­ple that en­ter year af­ter year. It is al­ways a pop­u­lar event,’’ she said.

She said the Christ­mas pa­rade never fails to be a hit and she en­cour­aged peo­ple to fill out en­try forms at Toko­roa Cloth­ing, the in­for­ma­tion cen­tre, or on­line at big­week­ if they wanted to take part.
