Big fun awaiting Big Weekend
You can kiss all your other weekend plans goodbye at the start of December because the Tokoroa Big Weekend is an event not to be missed.
The event, which incorporates Carols in the Park, the Tokoroa Christmas Parade, and the 79th Annual Tokoroa A&P Show, will once again take place from Friday, December 2 to Saturday, December 3 at the Memorial Sports Ground in Mossop Rd.
Secretary treasurer Sheryl Earles said there will be something for everyone.
That will begin with Carols in the Park run by the Ministers Association on Friday night from 6.30pm until 9pm, the Christmas parade run by the Tokoroa City Lions on Saturday from 10am in Kindergarten Pl, and then the Tokoroa A&P show featuring live animals, stalls, and various competitions such as strongman, baby, and miss princess contests.
‘‘The Tokoroa Big Weekend has been going since 2008 after the three separate groups came together and we have people that enter year after year. It is always a popular event,’’ she said.
She said the Christmas parade never fails to be a hit and she encouraged people to fill out entry forms at Tokoroa Clothing, the information centre, or online at bigweekend.co.nz if they wanted to take part.
