SW going cuckoo for cookies
When the Cookie Time cookie buckets start being sold you know Christmas is only weeks away.
Massey University design student Sarah Joubert has been looking after the South Waikato this year and has so far sold over 2000 buckets in November alone.
‘‘It’s crazy, you should see my garage. I’ve had to evacuate the cars to get all the buckets in there,’’ she said.
Joubert is one of 110 students hired by Cookie Time throughout the country each year to sell the popular cookie buckets which come in various flavours.
‘‘There is no set amount we have to sell but there are incentives and a good chunk of the money also goes towards the Cookie Time Charitable Trust which this year is supporting Assistance Dogs New Zealand Trust plus ongoing sponsorship of the Dyslexia Foundation of New Zealand so that’s really good motivation to sell them,’’ she said.
‘‘I’ve been going to businesses and in the evenings i’ve been selling them by setting up on the side of the road somewhere, in stores, or at markets,’’ she said.
‘‘In December we go and deliver the orders but I’ll also still be selling them at the likes of the Tirau Market and people can email me to place orders.’’
She said selling the cookies was a great job for students.
