Various services will be held on Anzac Day but this year in Putaruru a few extra events have been added.

Putaruru RSA President Murray Bath said the day will start with the usual Dawn Parade which will be held at 6am from Van Dyks to the Garden of Memories.

‘‘There are usually a few hundred who come along and there seem to be more coming every year and we love to see them,’’ he said.

He said following the Dawn Parade a breakfast will be held at the Putaruru District Services Memorial Club ahead of the Civic Service.

‘‘The Civic March will also take place form Van Dyks and will head towards The Plaza,’’ he said.

But this year the Putaruru RSA has also organised for a special guest speaker to come and talk about peace keeping.

‘‘This year we have got Captain Keith Laws coming as a guest speaker which will be really good and a choir coming who will be singing the song written for the 100th anniversary,’’ he said.

Bath said he will also be putting poppies on white crosses donated by Hopkins Joinery on local graves this week with the Putaruru Scouts.
