Am­is­field trees to be har­vested

The large 40-year-old pine trees ad­ja­cent to the Toko­roa Air­field are set to be har­vested.

The trees, which are owned by the South Waikato Dis­trict Coun­cil, will be har­vested from May 10 and will be re­planted.

The coun­cil’s strate­gic projects man­ager Sarah Flavall said crews will be work­ing from 7am to 4pm, five days a week.

‘‘Log­ging trucks and loaders will start ear­lier at 5am,’’ she said.

The team will be mov­ing around five to six loads per day and the project is ex­pected to take be­tween four and five weeks.
