For Labour, the is­sue is not im­mi­grants. I’m an immigrant my­self and I’m a Labour can­di­date. For Labour the is­sue is rather the open-door im­mi­gra­tion pol­icy adopted by the Na­tional gov­ern­ment.

A pol­icy that is far from wise un­der the cur­rent cir­cum­stances cre­ated by the same gov­ern­ment that has been cut­ting funds for health, ed­u­ca­tion, po­lice and en­vi­ron­ment and is way be­hind with in­fra­struc­ture. They have led the coun­try to its worst hous­ing cri­sis since 1951 but still keeps the door wide open for new arrivals which is not fair on Ki­wis nei­ther on im­mi­grants. We need to build more houses, fix both our health and ed­u­ca­tion sys­tems, clean our rivers, guar­an­tee de­cent wages and se­cure jobs for work­ers.
