For Labour, the issue is not immigrants. I’m an immigrant myself and I’m a Labour candidate. For Labour the issue is rather the open-door immigration policy adopted by the National government.
A policy that is far from wise under the current circumstances created by the same government that has been cutting funds for health, education, police and environment and is way behind with infrastructure. They have led the country to its worst housing crisis since 1951 but still keeps the door wide open for new arrivals which is not fair on Kiwis neither on immigrants. We need to build more houses, fix both our health and education systems, clean our rivers, guarantee decent wages and secure jobs for workers.
