Building accreditation retained
A tidy up has seen the South Waikato District Council’s Building Team retain accreditation as a Building Control Authority.
International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ) audited the council over four days in August looking at every aspect of the consenting process including vetting, processing and inspection. This week accreditation was reissued.
While overall things were good there were a few small procedural items that the team

needed to tidy up first.
Many of these were associated with the current transition period between the old system being used and the new Alphaone system.
The council’s Regulatory Group Manager Sharon Robinson said the council was pleased with the outcome.
‘‘This ensures the council can continue to deliver a cost effective building control service to residents and ratepayers,’’ she said.
The council’s building control manager Kevin Duthie echoed Robinson’s thoughts and said feedback from assessors was pleasing.
‘‘We are very pleased with the feedback from the assessors,’’ he said.
‘‘They acknowledged that our system has matured well over the years and this translates into efficient processing.’’
