Plea helps murder probe
Police have received a number of calls in relation to the murder of Roma Joseph, who died in a house fire in Tirau in May.
In the early hours of May 1, 2017, a blaze broke out on the left hand side living area of Joseph’s two bedroom rental home on Little Street.
The 58-year-old grandmother was seriously assaulted before the fire was lit in the living area of her house between 3am and 3.30am on May 1.
On August 31, Police Ten 7 appealed to the public asking if they had seen a person walking past the Caltex Service Station around that time on Monday, May 1.
Area Manager of Investigations, Taupo, Detective Senior Sergeant Matt Cranshaw, said police had received a number of calls relating to the CCTV service station footage, as well as information in relation to other aspects of the case.
‘‘All of these calls have been extremely helpful to our investigation,’’ Cranshaw said.
‘‘It just goes to show that almost five months down the track people still have information of value about the enquiry.’’
He encouraged anyone who may have information that could help - no matter how minor it may seem - to contact police.
Roma Joseph’s daughter Kirsty Joseph wants the killers to come forward to help her move on.
