Paradise within your reach in Opaheke

Southern Real Estate Guide - - SOUTHERN HOMES -

You are looking at the immaculately presented home of Phyllis and Greg in Opaheke. Situated in a network of very desirable streets, 9 Rembrandt Pl is the perfect family home - central location, year-round entertaining options, and beautifully appointed.

While families will appreciate the cul-de-sac setting, those who love to invite family and friends will love the elevated setting which ensures that abundant sunlight cascades in virtually all-day.

The 893 square metre property is within walking distance to the sought after Opaheke Primary, Rosehill College and shops. Within a short radius are entertaining options galore in both Papakura township and Drury Village.

The two-level home is robustly constructed and has a contemporary – almost timeless – appeal. A unique aspect is the grid tie-back solar energy generator, which supplies electricity first to the house and then feeds the surplus, if any, into the grid. Power supplied to the grid is offset against your consumption, saving you a tidy amount each year. Neat!

The interiors feature a spacious open-plan lounge/dining /kitchen with multiple access to the poolside entertaining area, with tropical accents, flowing further on to a private lawn.

The top of the line kitchen has a granite breakfast bar, gas fixtures and all the modern built-in conveniences.

The sleeping accommodation is in a separate wing of the house. Here you have three double bedrooms, including the master with ensuite, walk-in wardrobe and access via ranchsliders to a private wraparound deck.

During the colder months you have the option of using either the wood burner or the heat pump or hunkering down with your DVD collection with the two wall mounted flat screen TVs that will remain in the house.

The house clearly combines the best of both worlds – an entertainer’s dream with an abundance of space and security for children. It is a measure of the work Phyllis and Greg have put into its maintenance that 11 years after they moved in, it remains as welcoming as ever.

‘‘Ours is a home that has created many happy memories,’’ Phyllis and Greg say. ‘‘We have raised two wonderful young boys here. It has been totally renovated to suit our family so we could keep the teenagers home without them realising we were keeping an eye on them.’’

The couple has hosted numerous parties and get-togethers, the latest being the wedding of their son in January. ‘‘It was great to be able to have all the young men in the bridal party at home on the eve of the wedding.’’

Families stay in Rembrandt Place to raise their children and to be close to the excellent schools.

‘‘Most of the children in the street have at one time or another been in our pool over the summer time,’’ Phyllis and Greg say. ‘‘It is a great entertaining home and is very private, you don’t realise you are in a city. Due to the planting we have a lot of birds in the garden so it is lovely to sit and watch the fantails and tui in the evenings.’’

The couple has decided to move back up north, which creates this rare opportunity for another family.

The property is listed a $685,000. Viewing at open homes Sunday 1.00 to 1.30pm. For more information call Brenda McDonald of First National Papakura on 027 480 5778.
