New pocket neighbourhood brings life to Onehunga
A new residential development in Onehunga set to provide homes for up to 500 people will be releasing the first stage of one and two bedroom apartments in the market in October 2016.
Fabric of Onehunga’s masterplan comprises 239 new apartments across five buildings, surrounded by landscaped grounds. It is situated on a 1.29ha site that spans between Spring St and Victoria St.
The site is being developed by Andrew and Tim Lamont, Directors of Lamont & Co. Their vision for Fabric of Onehunga was to create a new pocket neighbourhood where considered apartment living meets shared green spaces in one of Auckland’s oldest urban villages – and to enrich the already vibrant social fabric of the area.
Collaborating on the development are Ashton Mitchell architects and landscape architects, Boffa Miskell. Leading interior design magazine, Homestyle, will also be consulting on the interior aesthetic and will be styling the full two bedroom display apartment.
Apartment interiors will include contemporary finishes, clever storage, spacious interiors and maximised natural light. All apartments will flow out to balconies or large terrace gardens and share access to the pocket park at the heart of the development. Internal areas range from 57m2 to 89m2 in size.
Fabric’s architecture reflects the site’s light industrial heritage with buildings wrapped in steel cladding, black joinery and timber detailing. The apartment buildings will feature secure basement car parking and naturally ventilated glass atriums, with pedestrian bridge structures providing access to the apartments.
Fabric of Onehunga is currently registered with the New Zealand Green Building Council and is targeting a Homestar 6 Design and Built rating.
The development will be released in stages, with 82 apartments forming the first release. Prices will start from $545,000 for a one bedroom with car park. Completion of the development’s first stage is planned for 2019. The sales display and two bedroom show home will open in late October.
