Old wed­ding dresses to shine again

Wed­ding dresses dat­ing back to

1908 will be on show dur­ing a Brides Through The Ages event at the In­gle­wood Town Hall.

The night is a fundraiser for the Marinoto Hos­pi­tal Wing Project and will showcase his­toric as well as mod­ern day dresses on the cat­walk.

Event or­gan­iser Denise Loveridge, of the In­gle­wood Wel­fare So­ci­ety, says there will be be­tween 40 and 50 dresses on dis­play dur­ing the evening.

“It will be a great chance for brides to show off their dresses.”

The In­gle­wood Wel­fare So­ci­ety is hop­ing to raise

$250,000 to buy equip­ment for the new hos­pi­tal wing which should be com­pleted at the end of Oc­to­ber.

A TET grant of $2.2 mil­lion has paid for the ma­jor de­vel­op­ment. The new wing will ac­com­mo­date an­other 12 rooms and the older part of the hos­pi­tal will un­dergo a re­fur­bish­ment as well.

Denise will have her own lace dress which she wore in

1970 on show which her grand­daugh­ter An­ina Loveridge will wear.

Her brides­maid dress and her go­ing away out­fit will also be on dis­play. “I am re­ally look­ing for­ward to it — it’s go­ing to be a re­ally great night out.”

■ Brides Through the Ages is on Septem­ber 1 at the In­gle­wood Town Hall from 7pm. Doors open at
