Bowlers Tony Up­son, Alec Ja­cob­sen and Keith Zehn­der won their sec­tion on the num­ber one green at the Haw­era Park Op­tional Triples Tour­na­ment last Thurs­day. Play­ers Kevin Mis­chef­ski, Matt Wat­son and Iain Parker played in the Taranaki Men’s Open Sin­gles at the week­end. Nei­ther player qual­i­fied, with Kevin los­ing two games by two points, Matt los­ing all three games and Iain win­ning two games. Last Satur­day, the club held an open day for any­body who wanted to give bowls a go, which was a suc­cess. This week­end, the club has two teams play­ing in the Taranaki New Cen­tre Fours Com­pe­ti­tion. The first team is made up of John Sex­tus, Cliff Smith, Iain Parker and Brian Pearce, and the sec­ond team is made up of Den­nis McEwen, Matt Wat­son, Mike Sh­ern­ing and Ir­win Van­delt. There is no Club Drawn Mixed Cham­pi­onship fours on Sun­day and a new date will be ar­ranged. En­tries close for the Taranaki Open Mixed Pairs on Sun­day Novem­ber 11 and the Men’s Taranaki Open Fours on Novem­ber 15. Teams are on the board for the men’s in­ter­club. The Pat Collins Com­pe­ti­tion starts at 12.30pm on Oc­to­ber 29. A round of the Women’s Eg­mont Shield Com­pe­ti­tion is on Oc­to­ber 30 and Club Day is on Oc­to­ber 31.
