Heat still rising at the top
COUNTIES Manukau continue to set the pace with maximum points in the Farah Palmer Cup Premiership following their dominating 48-0 win over Waikato in round two.
With their 10 points they are three clear of Auckland who were too strong for Canterbury when bouncing back from their 10-10 draw with Bay of Plenty in the first round with a 41-12 win at home on Saturday.
Manawatu, who had the bye in the first round, opened their campaign with a 35-27 win over Wellington.
Those two teams, and Waikato, share third place with five points each.
In the Championship section Bay of Plenty continued their progress with a 24-10 win over Hawke’s Bay while Otago bounced back from their first round defeat with an 82-0 win over Tasman.
