Time to clutter up again?

-

IT’S called the Marie Kondo effect – and thanks to Netflix it’s spread from Japan all the way to the Western Bay of Plenty.

That’s where The Society of St Vincent de Paul has become so inundated with items they’re planning their first free ‘‘sale’’.

Kondo’s famous decluttering philosophy has seen opshops across the country flooded with goods as people seek to get rid of items that fail to ‘‘spark joy’’.

St Vincent de Paul area manager Lorna Edlin reckons they’ve become sick of simply throwing items out and would rather give the goodies away.

She said they had around 4000 banana boxes full of clothes, blankets, duvets and shoes and the sale would be on March 23.

The goods included designer brands and retro items, she said.

‘‘There’s a lot of really nice stuff in there. There’s nothing we haven’t got.’’
