New tech­nol­ogy could see in­ter­na­tional pas­sen­gers whisked through Aussie air­ports with­out hav­ing to show, or even scan, their pass­ports. The Aus­tralian govern­ment is pre­par­ing for a land­mark air­port over­haul this year, aimed at mak­ing it eas­ier for vis­i­tors to pass through in­ter­na­tional ar­rivals. Bio­met­ric recog­ni­tion of the face, eyes, or fin­ger­prints, matched with ex­ist­ing data will cre­ate a com­pletely con­tact­less sys­tem.
