Mana Dave Mana Dave is the owner of Auckland hair salons Blaze and Pony Professionnel and was recently appointed artistic director for Redken New Zealand.

Weekday workouts are all about Pilates and HIIT (high intensity interval training) sessions with a personal trainer, for energy and strength. Weekend workouts are about peace of my mind and finding a way to get into a mindset of gratitude. Walking does that for me. I get an hour or two in my own company and walk around where I live. I make sure to do it at a time of day when I can feel the sun and I’ll walk through areas where I can catch a view of the sea.

I listen to podcasts or watch YouTube videos that have an uplifting message while I’m walking. I love everything Oprah, so I’ll devour anything from her.

I also subscribe to Evan Carmichael’s Top 10 Rules for Success channel. He takes a look at well-known successful people across all sectors and investigates their path to success and happiness. I’m a geek for that stuff!

When it comes to food on Sundays I’m lazy, lazy, lazy. Should I food prep? Yes. Do I food prep? No. Sunday is a day of food with family and mates. Generally either brunch or dinner, but that is heavily dependent on what my Saturday night has been like.

If I can juggle schedules I really try to make an effort to do a Sunday family dinner at home in Mangere with my family. It helps me feel grounded and loved.

My guilty pleasure is a Nirvana spa pedicure from Bliss Reflexology in Newmarket. I’m not a huge fan of massage – it’s like torture, I’m too ticklish. But this, I love. My job involves me standing on my feet all day long so my feet feel fresh and revived once they’ve been given this 50-minute treat.

My absolute necessity is a weekly blowout from one of my lovely hair stylists, Anne, who helps to tame my ’fro at one of our two Newmarket salons. I live one block over from our salons so it’s super easy.

I am all about wardrobe planning. Sunday is when I go through and start to pull together my outfits for the week. Yes, I’m a control freak in this area. It helps to make my start to the work day less stressful.

I’ll create about 10 different options for the week so then, depending on what mood I’m in for that morning, I can pull something that fits my vibe. Don’t judge me! Stress-free workwear. My ideal Sunday Lazing on the couch in a pair of boxers and a slouchy tee binge-watching an entire season of a TV series. My current obsession is KJ Apa’s Riverdale. My typical Sunday Family, friends, food, food and more food. Ideal Sunday soundtrack Anything with an old-school 90s R&B flavour. Perfect Sunday night movie or TV show Any movie with a Marvel comic character as the hero. Fave Sunday café Cali Eatery on Nuffield St in Newmarket. Best hangover cure A Bloody Mary from Cali. Best tip for dealing with the Sunday night blues aka the Monday dreads It’s an opportunity for you to start again – who do you want to be for the new week? Sunday night blues are so 2016. We’ve moved on.
