Brown clothes have shaken off their long 1970s hangover, and are the surprise runaway hit shade of the summer.
Many of the pieces available locally lean towards another keyy colour for the summer season – rust orange – but the e pieces chosen for today’s spread read as more brown n than any other shade when seen on their own.
It’s been a slow progression to popularity for the dirt-toned hue. Tan and beige have been on high-rotate in recent years, but hard-core chocolate brown has been slow to take. Local label Marle has gone all in – offering it in silk as a simple but slinky T-shirt-shaped top in its spring range, while for its Resort collection (in store later this month) the brand is offering this fetching (and very 70s) wrap linen skirt, as well as a ruffle-edged cami, romper and other textural treats in the same fabric.
